Peanut/Tree Nut Safe Practices:
The Food Free celebration procedure is still in effect for 2016-2017 school year
All Attleboro Elementary schools will follow a strict Non- Food Celebration Procedure; Food will no longer be used to celebrate birthdays, special occasions or holidays. Teachers will not be using food - treats/ candy as an incentive unless specifically listed in a students IEP. This will help us keep all of our students safe and healthy by addressing the many food intolerance's and food allergies that our students have in increasing numbers.
Our Peanut Policy remains in effect as well
Many students who have severe allergic reactions to peanuts and/or nut products may develop a life threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment when exposed to these ingredients. In an effort to keep our schools as safe as possible for those with severe allergic reactions, the Attleboro Public Schools observe peanut/nut safe practices which requests peanut/nut products not be brought into academic areas. Strict avoidance of peanut/nut products is the only way to prevent a life threatening allergic reaction. Please do not send any peanut or nut containing products for your child to eat during snack in the classrooms. Peanut and/or nut products are allowed in the cafeterias during lunch time.
Zero Co-Pay cards are available to help cover the cost of Epi-pens, click on the Epi-pen link below or contact me and I will send one home with your student. Many of our families have haves hundreds of dollars by using these.
